INTENSIVE MONTHLY WORKSHOPS

You wish to train in the Salimpour formats but you are unable to join Maëlle's weekly classes? Or you are already training in the Salimpour formats but you wish to train more intensively? Then these intensive monthly workshops are perfect for you. 

Each workshop consists in three hours of both Suhaila Salimpour technique and Jamila Salimpour vocabulary  and cymbals playing, with a nice break and a cool down with some good stretching. It is a multi-level workshop, which means that beginning and more advanced dancers train together and are given specific exercices adapted to their own level. 

In order to take part in the monthly workshops, you must already know the basics of the Salimpour formats. As a minimum prerequisite, you should have attended:
  • an introductory workshop;
  • or at least 8 weekly classes
  • or some Salimpour format workshops.
Indeed:
  • The Suhaila Salimpour format is so different from other belly dance techniques that all dancers must start with the basics, regardless of their previous belly dance experience. ​
  • Jamila Salimpour's vocabulary of steps is very specific and requires practice in order for dancers to be able to transition fluidly between steps, executing them correctly, while playing finger cymbals all along!​

Regular monthly workshop conditions

Schedule: one Sunday per month, 12.15pm-3.45pm
Prerequisite: students must have taken at least 8 weekly classes or one monthly workshop open to beginners.
Location: Complexe sportif Poséidon, Avenue des Vaillants 2, 1200 Woluwe-St-Lambert (Metro: Tomberg)
Price: 50€/single session, 180€/4-workshop card vaid for 1 year (and 15€ of annual membership of the ASBL).
​What to wear: yoga/dance pants and a tight T-shirt, no skirts and no belts with coins or beads. 
What to bring: Bring a towel to cover the yoga mat and because you will be sweating, as well as some water and snacks for the break. Bring your finger cymballs (zills) as well (if you don't have any, I have a few pairs for lending).

​A minimum of 8 participants is needed for the workshop to take place so please register right away and at the minimum one week before if you are interested, in order to ensure that the workshop will indeed take place.
Payment: please proceed to payment on Maëlle Danse asbl's bank account  (IBAN BE64 001 7956789 52/ BIC GEBABEBB) with "workshop of (date) or workshop card + your name" in communication. 

Yearly ASBL membership fees:
To take part in the monthly workshops, you must have filled the registration form and paid the membership fee on Maëlle Danse ASBL's bank account (IBAN BE64 001 7956789 52/ BIC GEBABEBB). The 15€ yearly membership fee covers insurance and administrative expenses. It is not transferable nor refundable. It provides the status of member of the non-profit organisation. This status is valid until the end of the school year and is renewable every year. If you don't pay the membership fee, you are not insured and you are therefore not allowed to take part in the workshop.
